Thursday, 4th of July

Hi there, again! A new day in IPC school! It has been very hot and sunny, mainly in the afternoon, so, we are starting to know the British summer! And the weather forecast says it is going to be warm and sunny for a few days... We'll see!

As always, lessons in the morning. There is no new news, except that Francesc, Marc and Jaume have arrived on time! Good for them!

There is a good atmosphere in the school with the leaders and the wide range of European students.

After lunch, we had the different groups going to the different trips: Exmouth, Sydmouth and Dawlish Warren. We, the teachers, joined the second group and went to Dawlish Warren. It's a big beach, with a big red rock and a long and beautiful promenade.

Some of the students went playing on the beach, some went for a walk, some had a cream tea, some went up the big rock, others played football and the rest, just, sunbathed. Yes, sunbathing in England!

Tintagel

Saturday, 6th July

What a day! Today we have a school trip to Tintagel and Padstow. It's at two hours from Exeter but it is an incredible place to visit. The landscape is so beautiful! There are lot of cliffs by the sea, nice beaches, rocks and caves. It's said that the ruins of the castle of Tintagel are the origin of King Arthur's legend. Then, we could also visit Merli's cave! A really amazing place! 

Now, there are only crows and seagulls living there.

In the afternoon we went to Padstow, a nice fishing town by the sea, the smell was a bit weird though! A mixture of fish and chips, fresh fish, the sea breeze... And, of course, we had our cream tea. Mmmmmm!

Friday, 6th of July

The assembly of today at 9:00 was about the importance of being nice, polite and friendly to others. Then, the students had their morning lessons, and after lunch, they had their shopping afternoon. They went around Princesshay, the shopping 

 center, and we met them around but we also had a group meeting at 16:00 in front of Zara to check that everything was all right. Some of the students had already bought something, they showed us their shopping and the most popular thing was Vans shoes!

In the evening, we met at 19:30 at school for a very funny activity: the disco! We danced a lot! Finally, the host families came at 21:30 to take our students back home.

Wednesday, 3rd July 2013

Our students are getting used to how things work out here in Exeter. They know the city centre, how to go home and school, the school, the activities, etc.

They have their English groups in the morning, and their activities groups in the afternoon. The organization is very good, the teachers and the activity leaders are very nice and the lessons and activities interesting.

In the afternoon , today, we had sports activities, most students of our group, and Marta, chose 'Canoeing'. There is a group of other five students who went to play ball sports with other students and leaders. Marta went with Adrià and Juli in the same canoe, and, as you can imagine, they fell in the water! They all had a funny and wet experience.

In the evening, we had our first evening activity which is Ceilidh. It is a traditional group dance and we

had a person who tried to teach us how to dance. As you can see in the pictures, some of the students were a bit shy and didn't dance... But others became almost professional dancers!

The anecdote of the day is related to food again, and it's about one of our students' sandwich: butter with pickles!!! Mmmmmm!

Our English Lessons and trips.

Well, today almost everybody arrived on time, except three students who asked for directions to the 'wrong school'... But after getting in contact with them, they got to school about 25 minutes late! We sat with them to explain the correct way AGAIN!

Then, they went to the English classes, which were already divided according to their English level.

After lunch, we went to the school trips. There were three: Dartmoor (the national park), Exmouth and Sydmouth. Yolanda and Gloria went to Exmouth because there were free seats on the bus.

As you can see, the weather has changed a bit. It was a bit rainy and colder than yesterday. Then we went for a walk in the little town of Exmouth. I must say it is very beautiful...

Our first contact with Exeter's buses!

Yesterday I forgot to tell about one of the anecdotes of the day. It makes reference to one of our student's sandwich! It is very important not to mistake one simple letter in our words... Can you imagine a sandwich of jam and cheese??? When she realised the correct word was 'ham', it was too late!

Before our dinner, which is a bit later than our students', we phoned all the houses to check that everything was OK. And, in fact, it was!!!! Everybody was at home safe and sound, after getting on the bus, going on the wrong direction, asking for help to the bus driver, even some old ladies got involved and interested in some of our students' maps and directions, but they did it!

We are very proud of them! And what's more important, they had to practise their English and they learned a lot of things yesterday.

But now, they have to take the bus on the other firection to get to school.

Oh my god!!! I'm going to wait for them now and, luckily, they will find some old ladies ready to help. But I'll tell you later, when I get to school.

Getting to know Exeter.

After having breakfast, we have all met in our meeting assembly al IPC School. Then we have been given some instructions and our students have taken an assesment exam. Tomorrow they will be in different groups according to the level of the language.

Then, after lunch, we have chosen our favourite sports activities to practice in our sports afternoons! We had to choose between canoeing, football, swimming, and other ball sports.

Well, now it's time for our city tour and to visit the main sites. If course, the first one is the Cathedral. Amazing!

And, look at the weather! We are enjoying in this wonderful sunny day!
